The Project's aim is to pay belated tribute to those so far unremembered antifascists. Another goal of equal importance is to heighten Czech citizens' historical awareness of that period now controversially perceived.

The Project will attempt to chart the life stories of hundreds of antifascists, who will be recorded on both audio and video tapes. It will be the task of historians to integrate the stories into the historical background. There are ample untouched documents waiting for scrutiny in some little explored archives of Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Sweden, Canada and Israel. The general public will then have an opportunity to get familiar with the Project outcomes through a radio programme, a documentary, scholarly articles, exhibitions and conference anthologies. Special attention will be paid to addressing the younger generation, who often have very scanty, distorted knowledge of their homeland's history.

All documentation related to the realisation of the project called "Documenting the destinies of the active anti-Nazis who were affected by the measures taken against so-called enemy population in the post-war Czechoslovakia" can be viewed in Room 33 at the Institute of Contemporary History of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. It is possible to make an appointment in advance at 257 531 210 or at mobile number 732 750 759.
